This fresh new season brings us to a mood of change. Our tan starts to fade and our hair looks dull, drab and dehydrated after a summer of sun, sea and pool. It’s time to freshen up, treat yourself and opt for a new look. It’s time to enhance yourself and time for new hair!

It’s really amazing what great hair and a good colour can do for you. Colour affects our mood in general and has the power to enhance our feelings of wellbeing. When we speak of colour in the salon, we discuss cool and warm tones to compliment the individuals skin tone best, we recommend what colours to avoid and what the client should go for in order to get the very best result. Colour can really enhance our complexion and brighten our eyes. And can really make us look and feel better and sexier too.

The hottest hair trending now for the fall is definitely sun-kissed hair. And Balayage, rather than solid block colours, is what we are looking for this season. Balayage has been around for a while but this timeless technique is creeping its way back into being one of the most popular hair colour requests in salons today.

Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep or to paint. It allows for a sun-kissed natural looking hair colour – similar to what nature gives us as children – with softer, less noticeable re-growth lines. The principal idea being less is more when creating soft, natural looks. Think gorgeous Victoria’s Secret model hair.

At DSalon we are using Balayage and freehand colour techniques to break up the solidity of block colour as the results are far more natural, giving a much better look. Not only are the results amazing, but they are very low maintenance too. It grows out beautifully and more naturally so you don’t get an obvious re-growth line and can wear it for longer between appointments. All you really need to do is protect it as you would any other colour: use a colour protecting shampoo and conditioner, regular treatments and heat protection when styling.

This winter our favourite hair colours for longer hair are beautiful deep caramel shades blending into sunkissed golden blonde. The ombré dip dye effect is quite passé now.

We are touching up our ombré clients and taking the blonde bits higher to enhance the face shape and refresh the colour, always ensuring a beautiful, gradual colour blend. We are also loving soft auburn, copper, strawberry shades, and the powdery, lilac, pinky-hued colours which are definitely really cool fun to wear and trending in London street style fashion.

Having just returned from London’s top hair and beauty expo, I can say that this new treatment is the latest hype. It’s a skilled technique that hasn’t been widely taught in the UK until recently. Now it’s becoming better known because all the models and A-listers are wearing it. Clients are seeing it on the catwalks and red carpets and want to get that finish rather than the uniform highlights that foils give.

Having this treatment added to your hair colour makes your hair look and feel totally renewed. At DSalon we are adding this new celeb treatment dose to every colour mix to strengthen, treat and boost the quality of our clients’ hair, making it ten times stronger and internally restructured, so now you too can look your very best and feel like a celebrity!
