Dark plum and red lips are an essential when creating a fall makeup look. Dark lips have been frequently worn by Hollywood stars and runway models as it’s the perfect tool for creating a beautiful and unforgettable look.
I have an easy step-by-step tutorial that will help you get the perfect fall look.
Step 1: Start with a flawless base
After cleansing and priming the face, apply a thin layer of your foundation to create an even look. Apply concealer to the under eye area to help brighten the skin and on any blemishes which still peak through.
Step 2: Brows
Brows are an essential part of the look – they literally make or break a face! Fill your brows using an eyebrow powder and brush through them to help the powder blend.
Step 3: Eyes
Since we’re going dark on the lips, we decided that it would be best to have a neutral eye. Apply a ski tone colour shadow to the mobile eyelid. In the crease, blend a darker colour to create a shadow – I used a combination of a dark brown and a dark purple.
Step 4: Blend, Blend, Blend
Blending is key to creating beautiful eye looks. The point of blending is to remove any harsh lines which you might have created whilst applying your eye shadow.
Step 5: Highlight the brow bone
Highlighting the brow bone helps the eyebrows to pop. I used the same skin colour eye shadow used on the lid.
Step 6: Liner
This step is key since we still want emphasis on the eyes. Apply liner as desired – I applied a winged liner.
Step 7: Apply shadow to the lower lash line
Most people usually skip this step as they find it intimidating. However creating a shadow beneath the lash line will actually draw attention to the eyes and make your natural eye colour stand out. I used the same brown eye shadow used in the crease for this step.
Step 8: Mascara
Apply mascara to your top and bottom lashes.
Step 9: Blush and Highlight
Since we are going for a statement lip, it is best to apply a neutral toned blush to the cheeks. A bronzer also works find for this step. To attract attention to the cheek bones, some highlighter was also applied.
Step 10: Lips
The final step to master the fall look! I recommend using a lip liner to line your lips, especially when working with such dark lipsticks as this will prevent it from bleeding outside the corners of your mouth. Don’t worry if you mess up – you can always use some concealer to help clean the edges of your lips.
