It is not uncommon for people to feel uncomfortable to talk about problems – even admitting having difficulties can be hard. At times people may wish to speak up but finding a safe place or person to discuss with might be challenging. Kellimni.com tries to lower these barriers by offering young people online support, encouraging them to reach out and not keeping problems to themselves.
Kellimni.com’s online support service offers teenagers and young adults the opportunity to voice their concerns in confidence and receive support from professionally trained operators. Kellimni.com invites youths to contact an operator in Maltese or English through SmartMessaging available through the Kellimni.com App which is downloadable free of charge from the AppStore and PlayStore. Alternatively, youths can send an email through the Kellimni.com website. Youths can send in a SmartMessage or Email 24/7 and will receive a reply within 12 hours of submitting a message (excluding Sundays). Youths can also chat with operators to receive immediate real-time support through the website Kellimni.com from Monday to Friday: 7:00pm to 11:00pm and Saturday 10:00am to 2:00pm. Additionally, youths can share their experiences with other youths through the Kellimni.com forum. All these services are free of charge, confidential and the user can choose to remain anonymous.
The operational team comprises care professionals and supervised trained volunteers. Anyone interested in becoming a trained volunteer operator is encouraged to apply through the “More Stuff” section of the Kellimni.com website.
The Kellimni.com website offers a range of articles and videos on youth-related topics such as peer-pressure and bullying. Kellimni.com invites youth organisations to avail themselves of these resources. Kellimni.com can also collaborate with youth organisations by offering information sessions about youth-related topics to its members.
Kellimni.com is provided through a partnership between SOSMalta, the Salesians of Don Bosco, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and Aġenzija Appoġġ, under the guidance of Child Helpline International.
