There comes a time, every 2 years or so, where football fanatics take over the country. Everywhere you turn you will see a group of people in a heated argument over how a game developed, people writing Facebook posts rooting for countries they might have not even visited and friends making fun of each other over game techniques they had no part in planning or performing. While the majority of the population is keen on partaking in such football related activities, the other percentage might not share the love of the game which so many in this country seem to posses, yet are coerced into watching it anyway. Well, if you’re going to force us into watching because all of the country’s televisions are constantly occupied (thanks to a billion games per day), why not make it worth our while by bringing forth our love for eye candy?
Without further ado, here are our top 5 hunks from the UEFA 2016.
5. Aaron Ramsey
The Welsh midfielder who suddenly decided to go Ash blonde before the series of games made him quite easy to spot and so difficult for us to keep our eyes away. The fact that he is married to his high school sweet heart just proves him to be more attractive, but that also means we will have to keep our hands to ourselves. Luckily, no one said anything about our eyes.
4. Shane Long
While his performance throughout the games might not have done much to capture our attention, his looks surely made up for what he might lack in skill. This Irish 29 year-old player is the father of three children and the husband of a wife who is as gorgeous as he is. Despite his marital status, his position as a family man only seems to make us love him more; as if his tall and devastatingly beautiful features weren’t enough.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
No introductions needed here, in fact, putting him on the list was inevitable; we all knew we would find ourselves here. Women all over the world have been pining over his good looks for years and it appears that we’re not done just yet. He is often ranked as the best player in the world and ranked as the second highest paid one; he is one of the most marketable athletes and thank God for that. An upcoming biographical film is set to come out soon, and we will be watching, although his successful career might not be our main reason why.
2. Olivier Giroud
Although his fans may have quite a love-hate relationship with the player, here at VIDA we have nothing but love for this stunning man with a head of hair that is perfectly set 24/7. The guardian named him as one of the best strikers in Europe, a pleasant addition to his good looks. The 29 year-old French player has been married for five years, so there is not much hope for us there, but his career seems to be on the up rise, and it looks like we’re about to see a lot more of him in the upcoming future.
1. Gerard Pique
Or perhaps better known more amongst us as Shakira’s hunky husband. After meeting on the set of her 2010 hit song Waka Waka, the two fell in love, and we inevitably did the same; I mean… did you see his face? Who wouldn’t? The Spanish player does a good job on the field, but his talents are not restricted to playing football; he is the face of Mangano’s men line and the camera seems to love him just as much as we do. Unfortunately for us, he has admitted in an interview that he prefers to keep his distance from the camera, and his personal life private, and we definitely respect that, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t be on a constant lookout for when he makes an appearance.
Despite providing a top 5, downlisting was quite a hard task to do and we felt there was a need for some honourable mentions who almost made the cut: Italian player Graziano Pelle, Birkik Bjarnason from Iceland’s team and Spanish player Sergio Ramos.
