Since its conception, the blog ‘’ Trophy Shopaholic’’ has picked up the pace in Malta, as well
as on an international level, accruing several thousand likes rapidly. The blog is a hotchpotch
of fashion, style, as well as home interior, cleverly thrown together with a touch of Malta in the
bag, devised by local fashionista Paula Ferriggi. Dayna Clarke caught up with Paula, the brains
behind the blog to find out what makes her tick.
Paula is a 31-year-old married brunette, from San
Pawl tat-Tarġa with a love for all things pretty, stylish,
elegant, and neat. She graduated from University in
Communications, and has since been working in the
advertising industry for the past nine years. This has
given her a great passion for brands, and aside from
her job, she describes herself as a book lover, writer,
and most of all someone who loves to eat and shop!

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START A BLOG?
My love for branding combined with a flair for
sales inspired me to do more than just give
recommendations to my closest friends. I am such a
foodie that initially they were surprised that it wasn’t
the main subject-line, but fashion and shopping
always seem to give me more of a thrill so I had no
choice but to go for this. I do recommend good places
to eat in some of my posts though. My challenge was
to create my blog from scratch, and although I don’t
always have the time for it, it has already been a year
since I set it up!
WHAT IS THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF YOUR BLOG?
I have mostly written about places to shop, outfit
ideas, and also new home décor pieces which I
regularly introduce to my home. However, my husband
and I are currently expecting our first child, so I am
really looking forward to including motherhood as
a new subject-line on my blog, since our lifestyle is
about to change for good and we are really looking
forward to it. I just hope I will have the time to write!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BLOGGING?
The best part of it all is knowing that you write about
something and give it your all, just for the love of
it and without expecting anything in return. Having
something in writing truly expresses the passion you
have for a subject. In turn, when your followers start
to engage and give you feedback about something you
love so much, it makes your day, especially when you
share the same ideas. I often make it clear that I would
never write about anything against my will, especially
when it comes to recommended products.
WHERE DOES YOUR LOVE FOR FASHION COME FROM?
I have been shopaholic since forever; always on the lookout for great bargains and interesting brands!
Although I’m not exactly slim and super fit, when I was
younger I was chubbier so many of the outfits I liked
were never appropriate. As I grew older, I started to
experiment with different styles until I found exactly
what was right for me.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
My style developed along the years, and I’m sure it will
keep doing so. I live in blazers and if only Summer wasn’t
too hot in Malta, I would truly be in them constantly. If
I had to choose, I would go for Italian chic, but really, I
usually go for anything that meets my eye and I also love
to pair outfits with stylish trainers. A touch of vintage
also interests me.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE LOOKS FOR THIS SUMMER?
This is seriously one of the hardest questions for me
right now! I’m nearly halfway through in my pregnancy
and my bump has started to show. There are many things
I was in love with a few months ago, which I had to forget
for good. For instance, tucking in my t-shirts inside
my jeans with a gorgeous belt. Well, its only for a short
while I guess. I just hope I don’t turn to food as an instant
gratification, as otherwise I can forget about losing the
WHO ARE YOUR STYLE ICONS?
When it comes to fashion, I am totally in love with Olivia
Palermo’s style, but I have recently been inspired mostly
by other bloggers’ outfits, especially @lauraslittlelocket
My home décor style is definitely contemporary, with
a French touch. I always felt that it gives you more of a
cosy feel and never goes out of style, especially when
opting for neutral colours. I also go crazy for Hamptons
style which is actually similar and in my opinion is
WHAT IS THE BEST FASHION ADVICE YOU HAVE
I know so many people without a care in the world
who don’t bother with fashion, just as long as they are
comfortable in what they are wearing. This is in fact a
lesson learned since I would never ever wear something
I am not comfortable in. There were times when I used
to spend hours in agony just because I wore heels to a
wedding or event, but nowadays I just go straight for
flats and it gets me in a positive mood right away.
WHAT OTHER CREATIVE MEDIUMS WOULD YOU LIKE TO
My full-time job takes up most of my time and I’m sure
motherhood will be taking up even more. However, I am
currently also working hard to become certified in digital
marketing since its an area I’m really interested in and
I’m sure this will help me grow my blog even further in
the future. Cheers to what’s next and all that we aspire
